International/EU tools dedicated to fact checking:
  • EUvsDisinfo: This is the portal run by the EU’s East StratCom Task Force, created specifically to expose and counter disinformation from actors close to Russia. It contains a database of disinformation cases and debunking articles.
  • European Fact-Checking Standards Network (EFCSN) : This is a network of European fact-checking organisations promoting high standards of fact-checking and media literacy. 
  • EUFactCheck : This is a fact-checking project run by the European Journalism Training Association, involving journalism students and teachers from all over Europe.
  • AGCOM’s online disinformation observatory: The Italian Communications Authority (AGCOM) has a dedicated observatory that publishes reports and analyses on disinformation in Italy.
  • Bufale.net ): This is one of Italy’s best-known fact-checking portals. It deals with unmasking fake news, hoaxes and disinformation circulating on social media and the web.
  • Facta: This is an independent italian fact-checking project that verifies public news and statements, providing in-depth analyses and detailed explanations.

Greece

International/EU tools dedicated to fact checking:
  • https://fotoforensics.com/: A tool that uses error level analysis (ELA) to identify points in an image that may have been modified or photoshopped.  This tool allows you to upload the image, or type in the URL of the suspect image and then it will identify the suspicious points that may have been altered.
  • EU Disinfo Lab: Focuses on disinformation campaigns and misinformation in Europe. It provides research, reports, and tools to identify fake news.
Greek websites dedicated to fact checking:
  • ellinikahoaxes.gr: The first certified effort to debunk untrue publications on the internet, and every source of information in Greece. It is a company that belongs to the Non-profit Civil Society (NPO), under the name “NPO CENTER FOR THE SUPPRESSION OF MISREPRESENTATION”.
  • factchecker.gr/: A Greek fact-checking platform that aims to verify news, statements, and claims made in the public sphere.
